New Eco Friendly Custom Built Home

Recently we had the pleasure of completing an eco friendly new custom build project in the beautiful township of Paterson, located in the Hunter Valley.

This new home is a unique build in a great location taking advantage of it’s position on a downward sloping block overlooking the river. The home is a single storey at road level and double storey to the rear of the home.

Homes that are specifically designed to suit a particular block of land have many advantages over choosing an existing plan from a project builder. Custom designed homes are all about achieving a unique home that suits the home owners style and needs when it comes to layout and functionality.

Throughout the build, the home owners wanted to incorporate some interesting features such as the internal brick walls. They also chose to clad a garage wall in a translucent wall sheeting which allows natural light to flood into the garage.

Home Design

This home was designed with energy efficiency in mind. The layout takes advantage of natural light wherever possible. The home owners chose not to install air conditioning in their new home, so clever positioning of windows was very important to achieve good cross flow ventilation.Energy efficient LED lighting was also installed throughout this home.

Valley Kitchens did a great job of the kitchen. The grey stone benchtop is the main feature of the kitchen and looks amazing. Other features include, gloss white cabinetry and the home owners opted for no handles for a streamlined look. Hardwood timber flooring is continued throughout the kitchen space.

When it comes to the bathrooms, a freestanding bath features in the main with a wall hung vanity and feature mosaic tiles were used on the bathroom floor. The owners opted to use dark grout on the bathroom walls to add some interest to the white subway tiles. The ensuite bathroom features a wall hung vanity and the same wall tiles used in the main bathroom with dark grout but the opted for a larger floor tile in the ensuite. Large windows were installed in both bathrooms to allows natural light to stream into the rooms.

Unique Features

Brickwork – This home features reverse brickwork. Sheet cladding is installed on the outside of the property and feature brick walls were installed inside the home. The internal feature brickwork adds some character to the new home and the end result adds interest and looks fantastic.

Exterior Wall Cladding – This new home features several different lightweight wall cladding products on the exterior of the home. The walls were well insulated to help the home with remain cool in summer and warm in winter.

Flooring – Hardwood timber flooring in blackbutt was chosen as the main floor throughout the home and it looks stunning against the brickwork.

Outdoor Living

An elevated rear deck was added to the rear of the property constructed from blackbutt hard wood timber and timber privacy slats were installed to complete the area.

This home was a pleasure to build and we hope the lucky home owners enjoy this home for many years to come.
