We recently completed this beautiful Hamptons style acreage home for a lovely couple in the Hunter Valley suburb of Branxton. This new country home has a beautiful feel to it throughout.  The big wrap around verandah with its hardwood timber deck and gorgeous bushland surrounds, makes this home a standout.

New Home Design

The home was designed to suit the naturally sloping block. The home looks impressive in scale sitting across the block with it’s expansive covered entry and wide veradahs that help to keep the heat out in summer, whilst offering a lovely spot to sit and take in the views.

One of the advantages of choosing a custom builder to construct a new home such as this one, is that we are not restricted to building homes on concrete slabs. This home is on bearers and joists, using a steel uni pier system.  Building a home on bearers and joists allows more flexibility when it comes to designing your home. Another big advantage of using a custom builder, is the ability to choose fittings and fixtures of your choice for your new home.

Product Selections

Externally this home was cladded in James Hardie weatherboards, which instantly give the home a lovely modern country feel as you approach.  The home owners chose Colorbond roof and guttering in Woodland Grey and opted for Surfmist for the windows, fascia and barge.

Given the temperature changes we experience in the Hunter Valley region, we installed the maximum amount of insulation in the roof and walls to keep the home cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

Two sets of aluminium style french doors were installed to the rear of the home connecting inside to outside and we just love the look of those impressive front doors with the wrought iron inserts that set the tone before you step inside.  The home owners sourced the front doors themselves from a company called Unique Wrought Iron Doors. Whilst they did take quite a while to be made, the end result is perfect. The choice of clear glazing in the front doors and the large adjacent windows let an abundance of natural light into the home.

The merbau wrap around verandah was installed using the Decktek system.  The natural warm tone of the Merbau timber looks great against the grey and white painted exterior.

Bathrooms

The ensuite bathroom is impressive – the ensuite features wall to ceiling terrazo tiling, with a dark feature wall of tiles behind the twin basin wall hung vanity.  The vanity has a timber top with shaker style white cabinetry and grey above counter basins.

The shower space has two big overhead rain style showerheads, with a handy tiled niche area built in. The feature in the shower area is definitely the herringbone tiled feature wall and the tapware.

When it comes to product selections, we think the home owners have done exceptionally well. The stylish hamptons style tapware that is installed throughout the home looks great.

The main bathroom is equally as stylish as the ensuite bathroom.  The room features the same style of wall hung vanity, basins and tapware. The main bathroom also has the same herringbone pattern wall tiling in the light grey tiles.

A freestanding bath sits as a feature in the room and an open weave pendant light hangs in the corner accentuating the height in the room and completes the look.

Lights & Fans

LED downlights were installed throughout the home in the living spaces. Open weave pendant lights were chosen as a feature to sit above the kitchen island bench and in the corner of the main bathroom. The pendant lights are the perfect scale and style for this home.

The exterior wall mounted lights situated either side of the front entry doors, add a timeless elegance to the exterior façade of the home.

Kitchen

The spacious kitchen with natural light streaming in from all directions makes this such a lovely space. In keeping with hamptons styled homes, the kitchen island is the main feature in the room. The use of grey on the island bench, along with the three hanging pendants above captures your attention when you enter the room. The white and black country style cooker is another great feature of the room.

The generous walk in butlers pantry has the same white shaker style cabinetry and subway tiled splashback as the main kitchen and that large porcelain sink would be perfect for washing big pots and pans.

Laundry

The first thing you notice when you step inside the laundry,  are those great looking floor tiles and the big laundry tub. The choice of white cabinetry with the simple grey subway tiling is all that is needed against the patterned floor.

Flooring

Blackbutt hardwood timber floors were chosen for all living areas in the home, adding a lovely warmth to the interior against the light coloured walls. Carpets were installed to bedrooms for comfort underfoot.

Storage

This home has a room that would be the envy of most home owners. Take a look at the handy storage room, with wall to wall built-in shelving and an abundance of natural light.  Storage rooms are often dark and lack natural light, but this one ticks all the boxes.
